We have a yearly pass to the zoo and since the weather has been half way decent I’ve taken Conrad there a few times this past week. He really could care less about the animals (aside from the peacocks and geese which he chases after to catch). I take my camera with me when we go but he is such a wild man it’s hard to capture any type of kodak moment. Here are two of the best shots I’ve snapped so far. I was almost arrested when I jumped over the railing into the natural habitat of the baboon pen to take this first picture ; )

Every time I look at this photo I get a little misty. My mother took this photo and I think it perfectly captures my emotion at that time. It was kind of bittersweet. Here was this beautiful, amazing, innocent, helpless child that I helped create and I was absolutely terrified and in awe. I just couldn’t quite process that information or the extent of my love for him. To this day it still boggles my mind how much I love him and I’m sure it always will.
Do you mind…..I’m trying to do some laundry here.

Published February 17, 2008 Potty Training , Uncategorized Leave a CommentIt seems Conrad has always had the ability to pee on demand. His favorite thing to do while naked is run over to the heating vent and pee into it. He thinks it’s hilarious and so do I. I got to thinking…..I know it’s way early, but if he can pee into a vent then why couldn’t he pee into the toilet? So I bought him a potty. Right now he’s just playing with it and trying to get into the swing of things.
This little potty is great. When he “flushes” the toilet it starts singing (to the tune of Frere Jacques) “Toilet paper, toilet paper, on a roll-on a roll”
Conrad can now open doors. Dear lord give me strength.
Conrad met a new friend at the Children’s Museum of Denver the other day. We sat next to this really cool, sweet, ALTERNATIVE lady in the art room. Conrad was transfixed. He could not stop staring at her. She was dressed all in black, big black boots, wool hat….very goth. She also had huge ear plugs, a lip ring and multiple tattoos on her arms. His staring was so intense it got to the point where I was starting to get embarrassed. Luckily she just laughed and thought it was hilarious. Still he couldn’t care less, he just sat there with his mouth wide open staring at her. Hmmm, I wonder at what age we start learning tactfulness?
My illustration really doesn’t do her justice but it gets the point across.
WhoooHooooo!! Yesterday was Conrad’s 18 month appointment and it went splendidly. I could not be more pleased. He is now officially back on the charts for height measuring in at the 25th percentile and almost back on the charts for weight at 20lbs, 2oz. Our little boy is finally eating food and drinking milk. Since getting on Prevacid over a week ago he has not gagged or vomited ONE TIME! Can you tell I’m elated???
